Leaving on a jet plane. Sounded so romantic when John Denver wrote it and Peter. Paul, and Mary sang it. Not so much being on a full flight in an on-going pandemic. But off I go to my first Covenant Annual meeting in two decades, and my first time as a delegate ever. I have been blissfully ignorant of much of the goings on in the Covenant the past 16 years. And that level of disconnection has been diminishing over the past two years. I am looking forward to learning first-hand about the what the denominational home since my birth has become and is becoming.

And I look forward to sharing that knowledge with you upon my return.

But for now I have the privilege of introducing you to the five people who will be received into membership in our church this Sunday. It has been a delight to get to know them, and pray they find being part of this community the grace that I have found it to be.

Sara and Ryan Davis are both originally from the Midwest but have been living in the Seattle area for more than 10 years. They write, “The Pacific Northwest feels like the place where we have put down our family’s roots. You have probably heard our two girls—Ellery (4 in August)

and Margot (2 in August)—during many Sunday morning services, and we anticipate the disruptions will only increase with our third expected in September. We are excited to be joining the wonderful community of Seattle First Covenant Church and continue to invest in all of the

places we call home.”

Les and Carol Nelson were born in Everett, Washington and grew up there. Both have been

baptized and a part of Covenant Churches most of their lives. They have 4 adult children and 11 grandchildren scattered around the US and Japan. They've been members of Pine Lake Covenant Church in Sammamish the past 19 years and have been residents of Covenant Shores the last 5

years.

Barbara Rhoe is a lifelong Washingtonian, retired from 40 years of teaching and raising a family on a mini farm in Kitsap county. Beginning in 2000 she became a weekend resident of downtown Seattle and a member of Plymouth Church. She presently lives in a retirement community on First Hill.

God bless you all, however new to our community you are, however long you have called First Covenant home.
